15 Year 8 Young Leaders assisted at the Year 2 Multi Skills Festival at the start of October 2009. The students began their Young Leader training in Year 7 and came highly recommended from Mr Mole, their SSCo. They lived up to all expectations, well done!
13 of the Young Leaders helped run the Year 1 Multi-activity Festival at Blyth Sports Centre on Thursday 15th October. They helped deliver a number of activities to over 200 children throughout the day.
5 of the Young Leaders helped at the Gymnastics Festival at Blyth Sports Centre on Thursday 3rd December. This featured individual and group gymnastics as well as trampolining from a number of schools in the Partnership.
10 of the Young Leaders assisted with the running of the Year 5 skipping festival at Blyth Sports Centre on Thursday 10th December.
The St Wilfrid's Young Leaders have given up their Tuesday evenings to help run the Sports Club at neighbouring first school, St Andrew's. They are developing their leadership skills by planning and delivering sport sessions to students from Years 2,3 and 4. They plan to continue with this club throughout the remainder of the year, using different sports as the focus of their lessons.
During the final three half terms of this school year, young leaders from St Peter's, St Wilfrid's and St Benet Biscop will be involved in the delivery of Quadkids athletics to over 750 children in the Catholic family of schools. These Young Leaders from Years 4, 5, 6 7, 8, 10, 12, and 13 will run the various athletic competitions, where they will time races, measure jumps and throws and learn how to input all the data into the computer.
It would be impossible to run competitions on this scale without the effort and commitment of these Young Leaders. Thank you and well done!!
