An Introduction to SIS at St Benet Biscop RC High School
ST BENET BISCOP "STEP INTO SPORT" PROGRAMME.
Historically, St Benet Biscop RC High School in Bedlington, has always had one or two students involved in sport volunteering. This year the uptake has been fantastic, with 22 students signing up on the YST web-site, eager to volunteer. The students range from Year 10 through to Year 13 with over half of them electing to do their volunteering in both the school and community environments. Four of the students from Years 12 and 13 have been selected to be part of the Northumberland Sport Volunteer Event Team. These students, together with 4 students from both Coquet and KEVI, will be called upon to help organise and run the many competitions that are organised in the county throughout the year. The students in question are Jade Appleby, Jamie Jefferson, Anthony Reay and James Fraser. Congralulations on your selection!!In order to give the students as much help, advice and information as possible, the school in conjunction with the School Sports Partnership, are organising a "Launch afternoon" at Hirst Welfare in Ashington. Here they will be shown how the programme works, how their hours are logged and the various opportunities that are open to them in the immediate area.
I feel confident that these students will do a great job as volunteers and will provide an excellent service to clubs and sporting activities in the area.
